About this event

"It works on my machine." We’ve all said it, and we’ve all used Docker to fix it. But have you ever wondered what actually happens when you pull an image? Is it just a fancy zip file, or is there something deeper at play?

In this session, we’re going to stop taking Docker run for granted. I’m going to attempt to build a "portable environment" live using nothing but standard Linux tools using Docker!. You’ll watch in real-time as this manual isolation hits the wall, suffering from the spectacular dependency clashes and security gaps that defined the "pre-container" era.

Once the chaos reaches its peak, we’ll pull back the curtain on the Container Image. We’ll dissect the layered filesystem and the immutable architecture that turned a fragile directory into a ship-anywhere powerhouse. Come for the live "meltdown," stay for the "Aha!" moment when you finally see the true physics of containerization.
