About this event

CNCFサステナビリティ週間は、 環境持続可能性のためのCNCF Technical Advisory Group (TAG ENV) が クラウドネイティブコンピューティングファウンデーション(CNCF) と共同で毎年開催するイベントです。このイベントの主な目的は、クラウドネイティブ業界とオープンソース空間における環境持続可能性を促進することです。

このグローバルイベントは、対面のミートアップとバーチャルセッションの両方を含み、世界中のローカルテックコミュニティが主催し、TAG ENVがまとめています。このようなグローバルな大陸間のコラボレーションを奨励することで、テクノロジー分野においてサステナビリティが不可欠な要素であることを、また、時にはわずかなものであっても、環境を尊重しながら技術的・革新的な取り組みを実施することを、世界中のあらゆる人々が理解できるようになると私たちは信じています。

昨年、世界16カ国および4大陸で21のローカルミートアップが開催されました。今年、開催は2024年10月の第1週に予定されているクラウドネイティブサステイナビリティウィークの一環であり、ローカルミートアップの1つが東京でCloud Native Community Japan（CNCJ) のSIG Cloud Native Sustainability Japanによって開催される予定です。

Cloud Native Sustainability Week is a global event where local tech communities around the world are coordinated by the CNCF Technical Advisory Group for Environmental Sustainability to organize local meetings around the theme of Cloud Native Sustainability. The main goal of the event is to promote environmental sustainability in the cloud native industry and open source space.

Last year, there were 21 local meetups happening across 16 countries and 4 continents. This year, the Cloud Native Sustainability Week will take place in the first week of October 2024. This event is one of the local meetings held in Tokyo, Japan during the cloud native sustainability week organized by SIG Cloud Native Sustainability Japan in Cloud Native Community Japan (CNCJ) community.

Covering networks, computing, and devices, the IOWN Global Forum is building a community to lead this revolution toward a more secure and sustainable world, powered by light. The forum is at the forefront of developing pioneering technology that augments and replaces electronics with photonics, enabling the transfer and processing of vast quantities of data at previously unimaginable speeds. This talk briefly introduces the concept of IOWN and explores further opportunities for collaboration with the CNCF TAG Environmental Sustainability project.

    企業活動において環境問題への取り組みは避けられないものとなってきました。その内容や成果は投資家の評価や消費者の購買行動にも影響を与えます。そのため企業活動の中心を担うIT領域の環境対策も必要となりますが、その内容はハードウェア面が先行しているもののソフトウェア面はまだ浸透していない状況です。 NTT DATAはソフトウェアのグリーン化を推進するGreen Software Foundation（GSF）での活動やCNCFプロダクトへの開発貢献を通してこの分野の発展に取り組んできました。これらの活用例を通して、ITシステムができるソフトウェア面の環境対策のヒントを示します。
