About this event

Cloud Native Community Day Almaty is a free, community-driven conference for engineers working with Kubernetes and cloud native technologies. On August 13, we meet at Almaty Hub for a full day of hands-on learning, technical talks, and networking.

Morning: hands-on workshop (10:00)

We start with a practical workshop on moving from classic virtualization to a cloud native private cloud. Together with Timur Tukaev, COO of Aenix and one of the creators of Cozystack, you'll migrate a real virtual machine into KubeVirt and explore an architecture built on Kubernetes, LINSTOR, and Cilium.

Afternoon: technical talks (14:00)

Five talks from engineers at SUSE, Magnum Cash&Carry, Salmon, Freedom Cloud, and Aenix. Topics include:

  • Hiding the Kubernetes control plane and why it matters
  • Securing your cluster with Kubescape
  • Istio multi-cluster across AWS accounts
  • Longhorn: when Ceph is too heavy and local storage isn't enough
  • The future of Kubernetes, seen through the lens of the Linux kernel

Evening: after-party (18:00)

We wrap up with drinks and informal conversations — often the best part of the day.
