About this event

We are excited to announce the December meetup scheduled for Thursday, December 18th.

1st Presentation:
Live Tailing Kubernetes Logs with Gonzo: An Open Source TUI for Real-Time Insight

Kubernetes makes it easy to scale workloads, but wrangling the flood of logs from pods, services, and sidecars is another story. While dashboards and log drains are powerful, sometimes what you really need is a fast, focused way to see what’s happening right now.

Enter Gonzo — an open source, OTLP-native terminal UI, inspired by K9s, that brings real-time log streaming and AI-assisted analysis directly to your terminal. In this session, we’ll walk through how Gonzo plugs into Kubernetes clusters to live-tail logs from workloads, collectors, or observability backends, with zero vendor lock-in. You’ll see demos of:

- Streaming logs from pods with kubectl logs, Stern, K9s, EKS/CloudWatch, or Loki directly into Gonzo
- Using custom log formats for Kubernetes JSON logs
- Highlighting patterns and anomalies instantly, without waiting on a backend index
- Optional AI features for surfacing the “needle in the haystack”

Speaker Bio:
Jon Reeve is co-founder & CPO of ControlTheory, an Austin-based startup building practical AI-first observability for SREs, including the open source log TUI Gonzo. He has led products across Kubernetes, cloud-native services, and AI platforms, with prior roles at StackEngine (acquired by Oracle) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

2nd Presntation:

Migration from On-Prem Messaging System to The Cloud: What, How and Why

The race to the cloud is on, with enterprises everywhere migrating core infrastructure to stay competitive and cost effective. But when it comes to the messaging systems that power cross-component communications, a simple “lift and shift” isn’t adequate and can be a recipe for failure. The migration path is riddled with complex decisions and design pitfalls unique to every use case. In this session, AWS Cloud Support expert Tom will walk you through the critical stages of rehosting, replatforming, and refactoring, showing you how to unlock maximum performance and reliability for messaging systems. Tom will then move into how we can observe Message Broker and its performance through tools like RabbitMQAdmin CLI. Additionally, Tom will compare traditional message brokers with more modernized serverless messaging services on AWS. By the end of the session, you will have a much more comprehensive understanding of the migration prcess, key questions to ask and some best practices for harnessing the benefits of Cloud.

Speaker Bio:

Tom is a Cloud Support Engineer at AWS with five years of dedicated experience. He has gained extensive expertise in cloud-based messaging systems by guiding hundreds of customers through the process of migrating their on-premise systems to the cloud and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
