Building AI-Native, Kubernetes-First Platforms for PEs, SREs, and Developers
Platform teams need to enable developer self-service while keeping Kubernetes environments reliable and operable. Many internal developer platforms add layers that hide Kubernetes and complicate day-2 operations. In this talk, we will introduce OpenChoreo, a CNCF Sandbox project and Kubernetes-native internal developer platform designed to be defined and operated by Platform Engineers. Platform teams work directly with Kubernetes primitives, while exposing higher-level abstractions that hide complexity from developers. Kubernetes remains the system of record, with native resources staying visible and observable for SRE teams. Presentation with a live demo showing a Backstage-based developer portal, OpenChoreo’s modular architecture, and AI-assisted workflows, including an SRE agent for incident triage and root-cause analysis using live telemetry, is part of this session.
