What's a Kubestronaut (good for)? by Gerret Apelt @ IS Nordic A/S

The CNCF Kubestronaut program recognizes engineers who pass all five core Kubernetes certifications. You may then call yourself a Kubestronaut. You can also become a "Golden" Kubestronaut by passing additional 11 exams. Some exams are hands-on, others are multiple choice. Some are genuinely hard, others are surprisingly easy.

In this talk I'll be exploring what you can and cannot expect when somebody tell's you "I'm a Kubestronaut". We'll begin with the dry facts such as program composition, cost and swag rewards. Then I'll be sharing my personal journey from Kubernetes Beginner to Golden Kubestronaut. This includes taking a look at my preparation strategy and time investment, and commenting on the perceived usefuless of the tests I took.

Is it worth your time and money to go for this title as an engineer? What is the minimum level of prowess that we can expect from a (Golden) Kubestronaut? Clearly its higher than the ability to apply a helm chart, and definitely its less than the ability to expertly debug a set of malconfigured PDBs in a 10K node cluster under pressure.

By the end of this talk I hope you can better gauge what "Kubestronaut" means, whether you want to pursue the title, and what you can expect as a mininun in terms of K8s technical abilities when you meet such a Kubestronaut.

Talk 2

The Beginning Of A Journey To The Edge with Talos Kubernetes by Khaled Hammoun and Daniel Hansen @ JYSK

JYSK operates in over 48 countries, with more than 3,500 stores worldwide—each store representing the true edge of our global enterprise. But how do you deliver modern digital solutions to such a diverse, distributed, and resource-constrained environment? Join us as we share our journey to the edge: the motivations behind our strategy, the real-world challenges we faced, and the lessons learned from our failures and successes. Imagine deploying thousands of stores, each with its own unique configurations and often unpredictable network conditions.

Our mission: build a solution so lightweight and flexible enough to run anywhere, from the most powerful servers to the humblest machines.

Bandwidth limitations? Hardware diversity? We faced it all. Discover how Talos Linux became a game changer, enabling us to deliver a unified, reliable platform across every store—no matter the constraints.

But this is just the beginning. We’ll share our vision for the future, the next steps in our infrastructure evolution, and how these innovations can transform not just JYSK, but any enterprise looking to reach its true edge.
