This meetup features three talks from local engineers, plus plenty of time for networking, snacks, and good conversation. Expect sessions on Kubernetes, platform engineering, observability, and the kinds of challenges that only show up in production. No fluff, just useful insights and honest experiences from the community.

Application Consistent Data Protection with Kanister and Veeam Kasten
in-personSnapshots freeze a disk in time, but they have no idea whether the database sitting on top of it was mid-transaction when the freeze happened. For stateful Kubernetes workloads - databases, message queues, anything with in-memory state and a write-ahead log - that gap between crash-consistent and application-consistent is exactly where restores quietly fail.
This talk starts with Kanister, the CNCF sandbox project built to close that gap: we'll open up its architecture, its Blueprint model, and the small set of moving parts that let application owners encode their own consistency logic as a reusable, versionable recipe rather than a one-off script.
From there, we turn to the part most backup conversations skip: what it actually takes to run that logic reliably, at scale, across many applications and teams, without turning every backup into a bespoke engineering project. That's where Veeam Kasten comes in — built directly on top of Kanister's execution engine, it turns application-consistent protection into a policy-driven, self-service capability any platform team can operate, not just the people who wrote the blueprint.

In addition to these core components, we will briefly touch on how recent AI-driven approaches can complement the workflow by improving developer experience and reducing friction in common tasks, leaving room for future refinement.
