18:45-19:10 Talk "eBPF on wheels - container security for CAN bus (automotive)"

Automotive and industrial use cases share a common problem: updateability and observability in constrained and hazard-tested environments. Container technologies are known as successful deployment patterns in the Cloud and have been adopted to the automotive and industrial domain. This should provide continuous updates and flexible deployment, but how is the state with attack detection in those domains?

The use of physical interfaces and non-IP bus systems, such as the CAN bus or on-board interfaces are uncommon in the IT world and therefore new territory for cloud-native. As Red Hat and Canonical entered the road of edge devices, the Linux platform quickly matured in safety-critical domains and paved the way. The missing piece is is the deep protocol inspection in electronic systems.

This talk gives an overview of how containers and eBPF can be employed in automotive to detect cyber attacks.

19:20-20:15 Panel : "What can tech do for Austrian Critical Infrastructure" ?
What concrete actions can EU deep-tech engineers take to make critical infrastructure more resilient and secure?

Our discussion will focus on:
The current (uncertain political) landscape & operational realities; sovereignty: Lawful access versus encryption
The impact of regulations like CRA/NIS2 on engineering decisions : what really helps.
How can modern technology be leveraged in critical infrastructure: From memory-safe languages, observability standard to eBPF

Join the discussion with experts from industry and government: what do you think, the open-source community needs most, right now.

RSVP is also possible via Meetup and LinkedIn
