CNCG Kochi April Online Meetup: K0s at the Edge: Minimal Kubernetes, Maximum Impact

Talk 1: K0s at the Edge: Minimal Kubernetes, Maximum Impact

According to Gartner, by 2027, 50% of critical enterprise applications will reside outside centralized public clouds. As organizations embrace edge computing, challenges like limited hardware and remote environments arise.

This talk explores how Kubernetes—specifically k0s, a minimal single-binary distribution—addresses these constraints. Using Raspberry Pi 5 as an example, we’ll demonstrate how to set up a lightweight yet powerful cluster for edge use cases.

Speaker: Satyam Bhardwaj, Software Engineer, Mirantis

Talk 2: Introduction to k0rdent: Simplifying Platform Engineering at Scale

k0rdent enhances the Kubernetes ecosystem by simplifying ClusterAPI (CAPI) adoption, enabling seamless multi-cloud cluster management, and reinforcing GitOps-driven automation.

This session covers how k0rdent abstracts the complexity of CAPI, facilitates declarative infrastructure across AWS, Azure, GCP, vSphere, and OpenStack, and helps platform engineers build secure Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).

Speakers:

Prithvi Raj, Community Manager and Developer Advocate

Bharath Nallapeta, Senior Software Engineer, Mirantis
